How to activate PayPal checkout for your Booking Engine 💳

Hello, dear hoteliers! 👋

If AmenitizPay isn’t available in your country (check the full list here), don’t worry! You can still automate payments using PayPal for your booking engine. Follow this simple guide to link PayPal to your booking engine effortlessly. 🚀

Part 1: Create a PayPal business account

First things first, you’ll need a PayPal Business account. If you haven’t created one yet, here’s how to do it:

1️⃣ Head over to the PayPal website and click on "Sign up" located at the top right corner.

2️⃣ Choose the "Business" option.

Follow the prompts to complete your account setup by entering your email address and personal information.

Part 2: Retrieve your PayPal credentials

Once your PayPal account is set up, you’ll need two crucial pieces of information to activate the PayPal Checkout application on Amenitiz:

• PayPal Merchant ID
• PayPal Payment App Client ID

For the PayPal Merchant ID, simply check this article that shows you how to get it.     

As for the PayPal Payment App Client ID, follow these steps to retrieve it within your PayPal account:

1️⃣ Log in to your PayPal account.

2️⃣ Click on the "Developer" button on the top-right corner.

3️⃣ Navigate to the API credentials section to generate your PayPal Payment App Client ID. By default, the account will be in Sandbox mode. Switch the toggle to Live mode to get the production code:

• ❌ Sandbox mode: A testing code that does not work on the Marketplace.
• ✅ Live mode: A production code that works and is 80 characters long. Make sure to use the Live mode code. ‼️

Alternatively, you can contact PayPal, and they will create the PayPal Payment App Client ID for you.

Part 3: Activate PayPal checkout in Amenitiz

A step-by-step guide 👩‍💻

1️⃣ Navigate to the Amenitiz administrator area:

Click on Marketplace in the sidebar.

Search for PayPal or Go to Discover all apps > See all to find PayPal Checkout in the list.

2️⃣ Activate the application:

Click on Activate next to PayPal Checkout.

3️⃣ Enter your PayPal credentials:

Input your PayPal Merchant ID and PayPal payment App Client ID in the respective fields.

Click Save to confirm your settings.

4️⃣ Set automation preferences:

You can now set a percentage to automate at booking according to your preference.
