Overview
Chapka is a travel insurance partner integrated into your Amenitiz booking engine. When a guest books direct, they can opt to add Chapka coverage during checkout — for cancellation cover, lost luggage, civil liability, and more. The insurance is paid by the guest and is free for you; Amenitiz collects the fee at booking and forwards it to Chapka.
Before you start
AmenitizPay is required — Chapka can only be sold to guests who pay with AmenitizPay at booking. Hotels without AmenitizPay can't offer it.
Direct bookings only — Chapka is offered on your Amenitiz booking engine. OTA bookings (Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.) can't include it because the guest never goes through your engine.
Who the cover is for — EU citizens worldwide and foreign guests travelling from the EU. The booking engine doesn't check this, so the option appears for every guest on a Chapka-linked rate.
Specific sales terms required — activating Chapka creates a dedicated sales term on your account, which the guest accepts as part of the rate when they book. Accepting it is not the same as buying the insurance: the guest opts in separately at checkout. These terms are mandatory and managed by Amenitiz.
Not available close to arrival — the insurance can't be added when the arrival date is less than two days away. The guest still sees the option, greyed out, with the message You can't add insurance to a booking when the arrival date is in less than two days.
To activate, see how to activate the Chapka Insurance.
How it works for the guest
The guest searches for a stay on your booking engine and lands on the rates page.
At checkout, they see the Chapka option with a one-line description and the price.
To take the insurance they have to tick
Add insurance to my booking. The box is unticked by default, so a guest who leaves it alone is not insured. They accept the sales terms and pay through AmenitizPay. Every guest does this to book the rate, whether or not they ticked the box.
Only if the box was ticked, Amenitiz notifies Chapka automatically and the policy is created in their name.
⚠️ Warning
Accepting the sales terms is not consent to be insured. Every guest booking a Chapka-linked rate accepts those terms — that is how the rate is sold. A policy exists only when the guest ticks the insurance box at checkout — and that box starts unticked.
To check whether a guest is actually covered, open the booking and look at its charges: an Insurance charge means they opted in and a policy was created. No Insurance charge means there is no policy and nothing to claim against.
Cost and how it's settled
Price for the guest: 4.5% of the accommodation amount of the booking, with a €5 minimum. Calculated on the room cost only — not on extras, taxes, or city tax.
Cost for you: zero. Chapka is free for the hotelier.
Settlement flow: the guest's payment, including the insurance premium, reaches you in your payout — with no AmenitizPay commission taken on the insurance portion. Amenitiz then invoices you for the Chapka premiums in the month after each guest's stay ends, so you can reconcile. A booking made in January for an August stay is invoiced in September.

FAQs
A guest booked a Chapka rate — are they insured?
A guest booked a Chapka rate — are they insured?
Not automatically. Booking a rate that carries the Chapka sales terms does not insure the guest — it only means they accepted the terms attached to that rate. They are covered only if they ticked the insurance box at checkout. Open the booking and check its charges: an Insurance charge means a policy was created. If there is no Insurance charge, there is no policy, and the guest has nothing to claim against.
Do I pay anything to offer Chapka?
Do I pay anything to offer Chapka?
No. Chapka is free for you. The guest pays the premium directly at booking and it's passed through Amenitiz to Chapka — no commission, no setup fee on your side.
When do I pay Amenitiz for the Chapka premiums?
When do I pay Amenitiz for the Chapka premiums?
The premium isn't taken out of your payout. The guest's payment reaches you in full, including the insurance, and no AmenitizPay commission is charged on the insurance portion. Amenitiz then invoices you for those premiums in the month after each guest's stay ends — one invoice listing each booking, charged automatically, so the books reconcile. Note that this follows the stay, not the booking: a booking made in January for an August stay is invoiced in September.
Why is Chapka only available on direct bookings?
Why is Chapka only available on direct bookings?
The guest has to be offered the insurance and tick the box during checkout on your booking engine, paying with AmenitizPay. OTA guests check out on the OTA, not on your engine, so they are never asked. Direct booking engine + AmenitizPay is the only path.
Is the insurance available to all guests?
Is the insurance available to all guests?
Chapka's cover is for EU citizens worldwide and foreign guests travelling from the EU. The booking engine does not check the guest's nationality, so the option is shown to everyone on a Chapka-linked rate. If you have guests outside that scope, tell them to check Chapka's general conditions before taking the insurance.
The guest cancelled. Do they still pay the Chapka fee?
The guest cancelled. Do they still pay the Chapka fee?
Refund handling for Chapka follows Chapka's own policy, not yours. If the guest claims under the policy (covered cancellation reason), Chapka pays out per the contract. The insurance fee itself isn't refunded if the policy was already in force. Direct refund questions to Chapka's claims team.
Can I turn Chapka off later?
Can I turn Chapka off later?
Yes — deactivate from the Marketplace. Disabling Chapka also disables the dedicated Chapka sales term, so no new guest can buy it. Existing policies stay in force.
