How to extract your city tax report

Open the Tourist tax report in Reports to estimate the tourist tax due for any period, see what the OTAs already collect, and export or email the file for your declaration.

The Tourist tax report estimates the tourist tax due on your bookings over the period you choose, so you can declare it to your local authority.

It shows what each booking owes, how much the OTAs collect and pay to the municipality on your behalf, and the net amount you still have to pay over. Read the figures on screen, download them as Excel or CSV, or email them to yourself or your accountant.

Before you start

Create your city tax rules first, in Settings > City taxes — the report reads those rules to work out what is taxable. See How to create a city tax.

The figures are an estimation, not a legal document. Check them against your own records before you declare.

Step by step

  1. Click Reports in the main menu.

  2. Under All reports by category, open the Compliance category and click Tourist tax.

  3. Set the Period: pick a preset such as Last month, or choose Custom and set the Start date and the End date.

  4. Check the figures on screen.

  5. Click Export and choose Export to Excel or Export to CSV to download the file.

  6. To send it instead, click Email, add your Recipients, pick the Format and click Send now.

✅ Tip

Declaring every month? Click Schedule on the report and Amenitiz emails it to you on the cadence you set. More on Reports in How to use Reports.

What the report shows

Five figures sit at the top of the report, for the period you selected:

  • Estimated amount — the tourist tax due in total.

  • Taxable nights — nights the tax applies to.

  • Exempt nights — nights your rules exempt, such as children under the local age threshold or nights past a length-of-stay cap.

  • Collected by OTA — the part Booking.com, Airbnb or Expedia collect and pay to the municipality themselves.

  • Net to remit — the amount left for you to declare and pay.

Each figure carries a Methodology link that explains how it was worked out.

Below them comes one row per booking, with these columns: Booking, Room, Dates, Source, Actual nights, Taxable nights, Exempt nights, Adults, Children, Unit price, City tax (excl. VAT), VAT rate, VAT amount, Total adults, Total children, Total (incl. VAT), Collected by OTA (Yes, No or Partial) and Net to remit.

What you get when you export it

The Excel file holds two sheets for the same period: one with a row per booking, and one with a row per calendar day. Use whichever one your local authority asks for — many monthly returns are easier to fill in from the per-day sheet.

Important rules

  • Only confirmed and modified bookings count. Cancellations and no-shows are left out.

  • Nights count by stay date, not by booking date. A stay that crosses the edge of your period brings only the nights inside it.

  • Age thresholds and length-of-stay caps come from your city tax rules, and appear as Exempt nights.

  • What an OTA collects directly appears as Collected by OTA, and Net to remit is what is left once that is taken out. Check each channel’s extranet to see what it collects for you.

  • When the tax is included in the room price there is no separate charge line to read, so the report works the amount out from your current city tax rules.

FAQs

Why is the report an estimation?

It reports what was billed through Amenitiz. OTAs that collect the tax and pay the municipality directly do not always send the detail back, and a municipality can count a stay differently, so your declaration may not match the figure here to the cent. Check it against your own records before you declare.

What does Net to remit mean?

It is the estimated amount minus what the OTAs already collected and paid on your behalf — in other words, what you still owe your local authority.

Are cancelled bookings and no-shows included?

No. Only confirmed and modified bookings appear. If your local authority wants no-shows declared, add them to your declaration by hand.

Why does Total children show 0?

The report puts the whole amount in the adults total, so the children columns read 0 even when your rules do charge for children. Read Total (incl. VAT) on the row, or Estimated amount at the top, for the real total.

Where do the age and length-of-stay exemptions come from?

From the city tax rules on your account, not from the report. Set them once in Settings > City taxes and every report reflects them — see How to create a city tax.

Can I get one row per day instead of one per booking?

Yes. Export the report and open the second sheet of the Excel file: it lists one row per calendar day for the same period.
