How to create and manage your Google Business profile

Updated over a week ago

In this article, you'll learn how to create and manage your Google Business Profile to increase your property’s visibility, drive more direct bookings, and offer guests an improved experience.

Here is a video explaining how to create and manage your Google Business Profile:

When a guest searches for your property on Google, they may first see OTA ads—but they’ll also find your Google Business Profile, which shows key information like photos, reviews, and your website link.

Step-by-step guide

1. Search for your business on Google or Google Maps

Type your property's name and city—or the full postal address—into Google or Google Maps.

  • If it appears: Click to view the profile.

  • If it doesn’t: Click here to create a new Business Profile from scratch.

2. Claim ownership

On the Business Profile, click “Own this business?” and follow the instructions to verify your ownership using a Google account.

  • Google may offer verification by phone, email, postcard, or Search Console.

  • Once verified, you’ll be able to edit and manage the profile from your Google Business dashboard.

3. Complete your Business Profile

After you're verified, update your profile with:

  • Your domain name – Make sure the website field links to your Amenitiz website.

  • Contact details – Add a phone number and business hours.

  • Photos – Add high-quality images of rooms, amenities, and surroundings.

  • Property name – Use the same name across OTAs and your website for consistency and SEO.

💡 Tip

Keeping your business information consistent across all platforms helps boost your visibility on Google and improves guest trust.

4. What if you're not the owner yet?

If you're not the verified owner, you can still suggest edits to the profile (like updating the name or address), but:

  • You won't be able to add your website or respond to reviews.

  • Click “Suggest an edit” on the profile to request changes.

5. Let guests find and book directly

Once your profile is live:

  • It appears in Google Search and Maps (on both desktop and mobile).

  • Guests can click the website link to book directly on your site.

  • They can also call you, read reviews, or ask questions—all from the profile.

⚠️ Warning

If you leave your profile unmanaged, Google may show outdated or incorrect info—hurting your visibility and guest trust.

FAQs

What’s the difference between Google Hotel and Google My Business?

Google My Business helps you appear in Google Search and Maps with your location, photos, reviews, and contact info—it’s your online business card.

Google Hotel Ads displays your rates and availability in hotel-specific results and helps you receive direct bookings from Google.

Think of it this way: My Business shows your profile; Hotel Ads shows your prices and availability.

Can I show my prices on Google from my Google My Business account?

No. While Google My Business helps your hotel appear in search results, it doesn’t display your prices. To show your rates, you’ll need to activate Google Hotel via Amenitiz. Just check our guide: The Google Hotel connection.

Do I need a separate Google account for each tool?

No—you can (and should!) manage all your Google tools—Business Profile, Analytics, Google Hotel, Tag Manager—from a single Google account to keep things tidy and simple.

Can Amenitiz help me set up my Google Business Profile?

Amenitiz doesn’t create your profile, but we provide step-by-step instructions (like in this article) to help you set it up correctly. Once live, it can be linked with other tools like Google Hotel.
