How to adjust the percentage markup on OTA prices

Each OTA rate plan has a percentage adjustment vs. your master rate — usually a markup to cover the OTA's commission. Change it in Channel Manager via the ⋯ menu; the new value applies on the next OTA sync.

Overview

Each OTA rate plan in Amenitiz has its own percentage adjustment relative to your master rate — typically a markup that covers the OTA's commission. Raise the percentage when an OTA raises its commission; lower it if you want your OTA prices closer to your direct prices. The change pushes to the connected OTA on the next sync.

Before you start

  • The percentage is per OTA rate plan, not per OTA. If you have multiple rate plans on one OTA (e.g. flexible + non-refundable), change each one separately.

  • A higher percentage means a higher price shown on the OTA — useful to offset Booking.com's 15% commission so your net stays the same. A negative or zero percentage shows the OTA a price equal to or below your direct rate.

  • The new percentage applies to future rate pushes. Existing OTA inventory already pushed at the old rate keeps the old price until the next sync.

Step-by-step

  1. In the sidebar, click Channel Manager. You'll see your OTA rate plans listed with their current percentage.

  2. Find the OTA rate plan you want to adjust and click the three-dot menu (⋯) on the right.

  3. Click Edit this OTA rate plan pricing.

  4. Enter the new percentage (e.g. 15 for +15%, -5 for -5%).

  5. Click Save. The change applies on the next OTA sync.

You can also reach the same setting from Booking enginePricing and editing the rate plan from there.

FAQs

What percentage should I set for Booking.com / Expedia?

Most hotels match the OTA's commission rate so their net is the same regardless of the channel. Booking.com's typical commission is 15%; Expedia varies 15–25% depending on programme. Check your contract for the exact figure and match it.

Does the percentage adjust prices on my own booking engine too?

No. The percentage only applies to OTA rate plans. Your booking-engine prices stay exactly as you set them in the master rate plan. That's the whole point — a higher OTA price preserves your direct-channel advantage.

I changed the percentage but the OTA still shows the old price. Why?

The new percentage applies to the next sync, not retroactively to inventory already pushed. Most OTAs refresh within 10–30 minutes. If after an hour the OTA still shows the old price, force a rate push from the OTA's connection page in the Channel Manager, or contact [email protected].

Can I set a different percentage for high season vs low season?

Not on the OTA rate plan itself — the percentage is a single value. For seasonal price differentiation, use seasonal rates on the master rate plan (the OTA percentage then multiplies whichever seasonal rate is active).

What happens if I set a negative percentage (-10%)?

The OTA sees a price 10% below your direct rate. This means you sell cheaper through the OTA than through your own engine — generally not advisable since you'll pay commission on top of giving the discount. Most OTAs also include rate-parity clauses that may flag this.
