Overview
Connect a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) account to your Amenitiz website to see where your visitors come from, what pages they view, and how long they stay.
Use this for SEO reporting and traffic analysis. Only page views are tracked — booking conversions are not sent to Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager containers cannot be connected.
Before you start
You need a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) tag ID starting with G-. If you do not have one yet, see the section below.
Only the account owner can activate apps in the Marketplace.
Step-by-step
Go to Marketplace in your Amenitiz admin sidebar.
Click Discover all apps, then See all. You will find Google Analytics at the end of the list.
Click Activate.
At Step 4 of the activation, paste your GA4 tag ID (starts with G-).
Click Save.
Find Google Analytics in the Marketplace:
Click Activate:
Paste your GA4 tag ID at Step 4:
Google Analytics is now connected and will start recording page views on your Amenitiz website.
Don't have a GA4 account yet?
Create one for free:
Go to analytics.google.com and sign in with a Google account.
In Admin, click Create account and enter your property name, time zone, and currency.
Follow the prompts to create a GA4 property for your website URL.
Copy the tag ID — it starts with G-. This is what you paste into Amenitiz.
Important rules
⚠️ Warning — Only GA4 tag IDs (starting with G-) are accepted. Universal Analytics (UA-) was discontinued by Google in July 2023 and no longer works.
📌 Note — Google Tag Manager containers (GTM-XXXXXXX) are not supported. You cannot paste a GTM container ID in this field — there is no field for it anywhere in Amenitiz.
ℹ️ Important — Only page views are tracked. Booking completions are not sent to Google Analytics as a purchase or conversion event, so you will not see revenue attribution in GA4 out of the box. You can still set up a destination goal in GA4 based on the booking confirmation page URL.
FAQs
What is the difference between Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager?
What is the difference between Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager?
Google Analytics tracks visitor behaviour on your website — where they come from, what pages they visit, how long they stay. Google Tag Manager does not track anything by itself; it is a tool for adding other scripts (like Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or ad tags) to a site without editing the code. If you only want visitor statistics, you only need Google Analytics.
Can I add my Google Tag Manager container to my Amenitiz website?
Can I add my Google Tag Manager container to my Amenitiz website?
No. There is no field for a GTM container ID in Amenitiz, and the booking engine does not load customer GTM containers. If you need GTM to add several tracking tools, this is not currently supported.
Can I track booking conversions in GA4?
Can I track booking conversions in GA4?
Not as a purchase event with revenue. Amenitiz does not send a purchase or transaction event to GA4 when a booking is completed. You can still count bookings in GA4 by setting up a destination goal targeting the booking confirmation page URL, but revenue will not be attributed automatically.
My tracking code is not working — what should I check?
My tracking code is not working — what should I check?
Check that the ID starts with G- (GA4). IDs starting with UA- (Universal Analytics) or GTM- (Tag Manager) will not work. Also check that the activation was saved in the Marketplace.
Can I use Google Ads conversion tracking?
Can I use Google Ads conversion tracking?
Not directly from Amenitiz today. Google Ads conversion tracking needs either a GTM container or a purchase event pushed to dataLayer — neither is available. If this is important to you, please contact support so the feature request can be logged.
