How to add a new page to a menu

Add an existing page (or an external link) to your website's header or footer menu — reorder, nest as a submenu, and save in one place.

Your Amenitiz website has menus that you can edit independently of your pages — typically a header menu at the top of the site and a footer menu at the bottom. Each menu is a list of items that link to your pages, or to external URLs.

This article explains how to add a new item to a menu and how to nest it as a submenu. To create the page itself first, see How to create a new page on your website.

Before you start

  • The page you want to add must already exist in Website > Pages.

  • Header and footer menus are separate. Adding an item to the header does not add it to the footer — repeat the steps in each menu you want to update.

  • Menu item titles are stored per language. You can use a different label per language if you want.

  • Don't forget to click Save at the end — changes are not live until you save.

Step-by-step guide

1. Open your menus

In the admin sidebar, go to Website > Menus. You'll see the list of all your menus (typically header + footer).

Open Website > Menus from the admin sidebar

2. Edit the menu you want to update

Click the three dots next to the menu (header or footer) and choose Edit a menu.

3. Add the menu item

Click Add menu item. A pop-up opens — set a title and pick the link target:

  • An existing page — choose from the list of pages you created in Website > Pages.

  • An external URL — paste a link to any external website.

Click Add to add the item to the menu.

4. Reorder, nest, then save

Drag items with your mouse to reorder them. Drag an item under another to turn it into a submenu — multiple pages will appear in a dropdown under the parent item. Click Save at the bottom for the changes to go live.

Drag and drop to reorder or nest items, then save

Important rules

  • Header and footer are separate menus. Adding an item to one doesn't add it to the other.

  • The menu item title can differ from the page title. Useful if your page is "Frequently asked questions" but you want it to appear as "FAQ" in the menu.

  • Each language is independent. Set the menu item title for each active language on your site.

  • You must click Save for changes to publish. Closing the editor without saving discards your changes.

  • If you don't see the change on your website after saving, refresh your browser with Ctrl+Shift+R (or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to bypass the cache.

FAQs

I created a page but it doesn't appear in my menu. Why?

Creating a page in Website > Pages doesn't automatically add it to your header or footer menu — those are configured separately. Go to Website > Menus, edit the menu you want to update, and add the page as a new menu item using the steps in this article.

Can I link to an external website from a menu item?

Yes. When you add a menu item, you can paste any external URL instead of picking one of your Amenitiz pages. The link will open the external site when visitors click it.

Can I have different menu item titles per language?

Yes. Each menu item title is stored per language. Switch the language tab in the editor before typing the title, then save and repeat for each language.

Can my header menu and footer menu show different items?

Yes — they're independent. You can have a short header menu (Home, Rooms, Contact) and a longer footer menu (with policies, legal, social links, etc.). Edit each one separately from Website > Menus.

I saved but the menu didn't update on my website. What now?

Most likely your browser is showing a cached version of your site. Hard-refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac). If the menu still doesn't show the change, re-open the menu editor to confirm your changes are saved, and contact support if the issue persists.

How do I remove a page from a menu?

Open the menu in Website > Menus > Edit a menu, find the item you want to remove, click its delete/trash icon, and save. Removing the menu item doesn't delete the underlying page — the page stays in Website > Pages.
