How to get your Amenitiz account ready for Verifactu in Spain

Verifactu is Spain's real-time invoice reporting to the AEAT, mandatory from 2027. Amenitiz handles it for you via Invopop — here's what you need to know and who is exempt.

Verifactu is a Spanish legal requirement designed to prevent tax fraud: every invoice you issue must be reported in real time to the Spanish tax authority (AEAT). Amenitiz handles the technical side via our certified partner Invopop — but you should know what's coming and check whether your property is concerned.

Key dates

The Spanish government has delayed the mandatory date. Verifactu now becomes mandatory:

  • 1 January 2027 — for Corporate Income Tax payers (typically companies).

  • 1 July 2027 — for all other taxpayers (including most self-employed professionals).

💡 You don't need to wait until 2027. Amenitiz is already Verifactu-ready. Activate now and you're covered before the deadline.

Who is affected — and who is exempt

Affected: all Spanish businesses that issue invoices in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands.

Exempt (these regions have their own tax authority and a separate system, TicketBAI):

  • Basque Country — provinces of Vizcaya (Bizkaia), Guipúzcoa (Gipuzkoa) and Álava (Araba)

  • Navarra

  • Ceuta

  • Melilla

If your hotel is registered in one of these regions, Verifactu does not apply to you — you fall under TicketBAI rules instead.

How Amenitiz handles it

Amenitiz uses Invopop, a Spanish government-certified Verifactu provider:

  • Real-time reporting — each invoice you issue from Amenitiz is automatically transmitted to the AEAT.

  • No manual uploads — no files to export, no portals to log into.

  • No complex setup on your side once activated.

Invopop already powers our e-invoicing in Portugal and Italy, so it's a battle-tested integration.

What you need to do now

  1. Confirm your property is in a Verifactu region (i.e. not Basque Country, Navarra, Ceuta or Melilla).

  2. Make sure your company details in Amenitiz are accurate (legal name, tax ID, address) — they are sent with every invoice.

  3. Contact Amenitiz support to activate Verifactu on your account. We'll switch on the integration and confirm everything is reporting correctly.

Important rules

  • Verifactu is a legal obligation. Failure to comply may result in penalties from the AEAT.

  • No opt-out. If you're in a Verifactu region, you must report.

  • Only certified providers can submit. Invopop is on the AEAT's list of certified Verifactu providers.

  • Activation is done by Amenitiz support, not from your dashboard.

FAQs

What is Invopop?

Invopop is a government-certified platform that securely transmits invoices to the AEAT. Amenitiz uses Invopop to deliver your invoices automatically. We already use Invopop successfully in Portugal and Italy.

Is Verifactu only for Spanish businesses?

Yes. Verifactu applies to invoices issued in Spain. If your property is based outside Spain, it does not affect you.

What happens if I don't comply by the deadline?

Non-compliance can lead to penalties from the AEAT. Amenitiz can activate the integration ahead of time so you're ready well before the 2027 deadline.

Can I opt out?

No. Verifactu is a legal obligation if you operate in a Verifactu region. Properties in the Basque Country, Navarra, Ceuta or Melilla follow TicketBAI rules instead.

I'm in the Basque Country / Navarra / Ceuta / Melilla — what do I do?

Verifactu doesn't apply to you. Your region uses the TicketBAI system. Make sure your hotel's region is correctly set in Amenitiz (Settings → Company information) so the right flow is applied.

Do I need to do anything from my dashboard?

No technical setup. Just keep your company details up to date and contact our support team to activate Verifactu. Once active, Amenitiz reports each invoice automatically.

Activate Verifactu
