📌 Phased rollout — The new Chekin integration is being activated gradually for all hotels. If you don't yet see the Chekin Portal in your sidebar, your account hasn't been migrated yet — your existing Chekin setup keeps working as before.
Overview
Chekin collects guest data and submits it to SEF (Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras) via the SIBA portal on your behalf. This guide applies to properties in Portugal 🇵🇹.
When you activate Chekin from the Amenitiz Marketplace, three things happen automatically:
The Chekin Portal appears in the Amenitiz sidebar, under Planning → Chekin Portal. Manage bookings, SEF credentials and submissions without leaving Amenitiz.
An automated online check-in email is created (in Messaging → Templates) and linked to all rooms. Guests fill the form on your own website.
Guest data syncs back to Amenitiz automatically as soon as the form is submitted.
Before you start
You'll need your SIBA credentials: Unidade hoteleira (Hotel Unit) number, Chave de autenticação (Authentication Key) and Establishment number. The establishment number depends on how many hotels you've registered in SIBA — if this is the first/only one, it'll be 0 (the start of the sequence); if you already manage others, it's the next number in line.
Your SIBA profile's Método de Envio (Submission method) must be set to Web Services. Página no Portal is no longer a valid submission method — if your profile is still set that way, Chekin won't be able to send data to SEF.
Also confirm that your SEF-SEBA account is correctly configured for Web Services and that SEF is aware of the change — without that confirmation on their side, the data won't get through.
Request the change to Web Services from SIBA
Before connecting Chekin to SEF, your SIBA profile must have Web Services as the submission method. The process has four steps:
Steps to change the submission method
Check on the SEF side — log into siba.ssi.gov.pt and try to change the submission method to Web Service from the portal.
Send a formal email to SEF — write to [email protected] with your NIF and establishment numbers, requesting the change to Web Service. The email template is below.
Wait for SEF's confirmation — timing is entirely on SEF's side. Don't move on to the next step until you receive the email confirmation.
Update Chekin — once SEF confirms, go to the Chekin Portal, open your property, and in the Authority Connection section enable Automatically send info to → SEF-SIBA web service integration.

Don't move on to connecting Chekin to SEF until you receive SIBA's confirmation that the submission method has been changed to Web Services. Otherwise, the data won't reach SEF even if Chekin is set up correctly.
Part 1 — Activate Chekin from Amenitiz
Go to Marketplace and find Chekin.
Click Activate.
Enter your email and create a password.
Select Hotel (hotels and bed & breakfasts) or Vacation Rental.
Click Create account.

If you have more than one SIBA account, select Vacation Rental at this step.
⚠️ Warning
The property type cannot be changed afterwards. To switch, contact support ([email protected]) — the change has to be done on the Amenitiz side.
Part 2 — Connect SIBA / SEF in Chekin
After activation, open the Chekin Portal from Planning → Chekin Portal in the Amenitiz sidebar.
Go to the Properties tab and click your property name.
Under Property Info, fill in every field and click Save Changes.
Under Authority Connection:
Enable Automatically send info to and choose SEF-SIBA web service integration.
Enter your SIBA credentials: Username = Unidade hoteleira number, Password = Chave de autenticação, Establishment number = see Before you start.
Click Save Changes.

Monitor booking status
In the Chekin Portal, open the Bookings tab to track guest data completion. Each guest has a status:
Completed — all guest data was collected and sent to SEF.
Incomplete / On hold — fields are missing; Chekin can't send yet.
If a guest hasn't filled the form, resend the email from the Chekin Portal or copy the form link and share it directly.
If the 11pm automatic send didn't complete, open the booking, go to Police (Check-in) and click Send manually.
Guest data sync
When a guest fills the form, Amenitiz updates the client file on the booking automatically. You can also fetch the data manually with the Fetch Chekin info button on the booking. See: How to import guest info from Chekin.
