How to activate Chekin in Amenitiz

Activate Chekin from the Amenitiz Marketplace to enable the in-app Chekin Portal, the automated online check-in email, and automatic guest data sync.

📌 Phased rollout — The new Chekin integration activates gradually for all hotels. If you don't see the Chekin Portal in your sidebar yet, you haven't been migrated — your current Chekin setup keeps working as before.


Overview

Chekin collects guest data and submits it to the local authorities on your behalf (Polizia di Stato, ISTAT, SEF, Policía, SAS Hospedaría, and others). When you activate Chekin from the Amenitiz Marketplace, three things happen automatically:

  • Chekin Portal appears in your Amenitiz sidebar. You manage bookings, guest data, and police submissions without leaving Amenitiz.

  • An automated online check-in email is created. Guests receive it on booking and complete the form on your own website.

  • When a guest completes the form, their data syncs back into the client record on the booking.


Before you start

  • You need admin access in Amenitiz.

  • If your property is in Spain, create your SAS Hospedaría account on the official government portal first. Spanish hotels cannot submit to the police without it.

  • If you already created a Chekin account directly on chekin.com, do not log in there. Activate from the Amenitiz Marketplace instead. Accounts created outside Amenitiz are not synced.


Step-by-step

  1. Go to Marketplace.

  2. Search for Chekin.

  3. Click Activate.

  4. Enter your email and create a password.

  5. Select your property type:

    • Hotel — for hotels and bed & breakfasts.

    • Vacation Rental — for multi-property managers, or if you have more than one account in the police portal.

  6. Click Create account.

⚠️ Warning

The property type cannot be changed later. To switch between Hotel and Vacation Rental, you must delete the Chekin account and activate it again from the Marketplace.


What happens after activation

Chekin Portal in your sidebar

A new Chekin Portal link appears in your Amenitiz sidebar. Click it to manage bookings, view guest data, configure police credentials, and run reports — all without leaving Amenitiz.

Automated online check-in email

An automated email called Chekin Guest SDK is created for you and attached to every room. It sends as soon as a booking is made, with a link to your hotel's online check-in page (hosted on your own website). The email keeps sending until the guest completes the form.

Automatic guest data sync

When a guest completes the form, Amenitiz updates the client record on the booking automatically: first name, last name, email, phone, ID document, address, city, postal code, province, region, country, and nationality. You can also pull the data manually from the booking with the Fetch Chekin info button.

Once Chekin is activated, follow your country's setup guide to connect the local authorities:

📌 Note

Properties in France and the UK can use Chekin for online check-in, communications, and document storage. There is no automatic submission to the authorities in these countries.


FAQs


Can I sign up for Chekin directly on chekin.com?

No. The integration only works if the account is created from Amenitiz → Marketplace → Chekin → Activate. Accounts created on chekin.com are not synced with your Amenitiz data and produce subscription errors.


Do I still need to log in to chekin.com?

No. The Chekin Portal in your Amenitiz sidebar covers daily operations: bookings, guest data, police credentials, reports. You can still log in to chekin.com if you prefer, but it is no longer required.


Can I change the property type later (Hotel ↔ Vacation Rental)?

No. Delete the existing Chekin account and activate it again from the Marketplace.


What is included in my Amenitiz subscription?

Online check-in, guest data submission to the authorities, email personalisation, contract templates, and team accounts. Premium features like Smart Locks / Remote Access and Identity Verification are paid extras on the Chekin side.


I see "Not subscribed" when I try to use Chekin — what do I do?

This usually means the Chekin account has unpaid invoices or no payment method on file.

  1. Open the Chekin Portal in your Amenitiz sidebar.

  2. Go to Profile → Billing.

  3. Add a valid card and clear any pending payments.

If you only need the basic features included in your Amenitiz subscription, disable any premium features in Chekin to avoid extra charges.


Can I turn off the automated check-in email?

Yes. Go to Settings → Templates, open the Chekin Guest SDK template, and detach it from the rooms you do not want it sent for, or deactivate it entirely.


I want to integrate Nuki or another smart lock — how?

Smart lock integrations are configured on the Chekin side and are a premium feature. Contact Chekin support directly to confirm which lock systems are supported.
