How to create simplified invoices

Two invoice formats — Detailed (one line per charge) or Simplified (lines grouped by category). Set the default in Invoices → Invoice settings; applies to new invoices only. Manual invoices are always Simplified.

Overview

Amenitiz can generate two invoice formats: detailed (one line item per charge — useful when you want a per-night, per-extra breakdown on the invoice) or simplified (line items grouped by charge category — fewer rows on the invoice, cleaner for the guest).

You pick the default format once on the Invoices settings page, and it applies to all new invoices going forward.


Before you start

  • Changing the invoice format applies to new invoices only. Invoices that have already been issued stay in their original format — Amenitiz never modifies them retroactively (they're legal documents).

  • Invoices created manually (from InvoicesInvoicesNew — not linked to a reservation) are always generated in simplified mode, regardless of the global setting. This is a hard product rule.

  • Each format may have different compliance implications depending on your country and accounting practice — if you're unsure, check with your accountant before switching.


Switch the default invoice format

  1. Go to Invoices in the sidebar.

  2. Open the Invoice settings page.

  3. Pick the format — Detailed (items shown without grouping) or Simplified (items grouped by category).

  4. Click Save. From this point on, new invoices use the selected format.


FAQs

What's the actual difference between Detailed and Simplified?

Detailed: every charge on the booking appears as its own line — each night, each extra, the city tax. A guest staying 5 nights with breakfast sees 10+ lines on the invoice. Simplified: charges are grouped by category — one line for accommodation, one for extras, one for taxes. Same total, fewer rows.


Will switching affect invoices I've already issued?

No. Past invoices keep their original format permanently — they're legal documents and Amenitiz doesn't rewrite them. The switch only affects invoices you generate after saving the change.


Can I switch back later?

Yes. Toggle the setting and save again — same path. Invoices generated before the second switch keep their format; new ones follow the latest setting.


Why are manually-created invoices always Simplified?

Manual invoices aren't tied to a specific reservation, so there's no per-night structure to detail. They're created from a list of items you enter directly — Amenitiz uses simplified mode for them by design, regardless of your global setting.
