How to add a slider or video to your website

Three options: a slideshow on the home page cover, a YouTube video on the home page cover, or a standalone slider block you can drop on any page.

Overview

This article covers all four ways to add scrolling photos or a video to your website:

  • A slideshow on the home page cover — multiple photos scrolling automatically in the hero at the top of your homepage.

  • A video on the home page cover — a YouTube clip embedded in that same hero.

  • A standalone slider block — a block of scrolling photos you can place anywhere on any page.

  • A standalone video block — a YouTube video you can embed in any page.

Before you start

  • You need the Can edit the website permission to open the website builder. If the Customize button doesn't appear, ask your Account Owner.

  • The Cover block exists only on the home page. To put a slider or video on another page, use a standalone Slider or Video block (options 3 and 4 below).

  • The home-page Cover can be either a slideshow or a video — not both. Switching the Cover Type replaces the previous choice.

  • Amenitiz doesn't host videos directly — to embed a video, you need to upload it to YouTube first and then paste the YouTube URL.

Step-by-step instructions

Open the website builder first: go to WebsiteWebsite in the sidebar and click Customize in the top-right corner. You'll land on the home page — open the Pages tab to switch to another page if needed. For the full builder walkthrough, see how to use the website builder.

1. Slideshow on the home page cover

  1. On the home page, click the Cover block in the left sidebar — its settings open on the side.

  2. Open the Cover Type dropdown and pick Slider.

  3. Add the photos you want to feature. They'll scroll automatically on your live site.

  4. Click Save to publish the change.

2. Video on the home page cover

  1. On the home page, click the Cover block in the left sidebar.

  2. Open the Cover Type dropdown and pick Video.

  3. In the Youtube video ID field, paste the URL of your YouTube video — the system converts it into the video ID automatically.

  4. Click Save to publish the change.

3. Slider block on any page

  1. From the Pages tab, open the page you want to add the slider to.

  2. In the left-hand menu, scroll down and click Add an element, then pick Slider — or click an existing Slider block already on the page.

  3. Open the block's Content tab. Click Image to change the current slide, or Add slide to add more photos from your library.

  4. Each photo uploads and appears at the end of the library — click it to add it to the slider.

  5. Click Save to publish.

4. Video block on any page

  1. From the Pages tab, open the page you want to add the video to.

  2. In the left-hand menu, scroll down and click Add an element, then pick Video block — or click an existing Video block already on the page.

  3. Open Settings to adjust the video size, then open Content to add a title and paste the YouTube link.

  4. Click Save to publish.

FAQs

Where do the slider photos come from?

From your website's media library — the same library used by other photo blocks. Upload new photos from your computer or pick existing ones. See how to add a photo to the image gallery for the upload flow.

Can I have both a slideshow and a video on the home page cover?

No — the Cover block accepts only one Cover Type at a time. Switching from Slider to Video (or back) replaces the previous setup.

Can I upload a video file directly to Amenitiz?

No — Amenitiz doesn't host videos. Upload your video to YouTube first, then paste the YouTube URL into the Cover block or the Video block. The video has to be public or unlisted; private videos won't play.

What video URL format should I use?

Any standard YouTube URL works — for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXX. The system extracts the video ID automatically.

What's the difference between the Cover block and a standalone Slider or Video block?

The Cover is the hero at the very top of your home page only — and it has its own dual-purpose settings (Slider or Video). Standalone Slider and Video blocks are regular content blocks you can drop anywhere on any page; each one only does its specific job (Slider = photos, Video block = a single YouTube video).
