How to customise the design of the Booking Engine

The booking engine is a vital part of your website, helping you automate and grow direct bookings. By reducing reliance on OTAs, it gives you more control over your reservations. This article explains how to customise it effectively.

Overview

Your booking engine settings let you control both how your booking engine looks and how it works. You'll find everything in one place, split into a Design tab (layout, cover image, header) and an Options tab (guest details, booking limits, custom messages).

Before you start

  • Your design options depend on your subscription plan. The Ultimate Plan gives you two layouts (Full-Screen and Side panel) plus a custom cover image. The Sales Pro Plan has a fixed Full-Screen layout, with a custom cover image toggle and a Show Header option.

  • All booking engine settings live under Booking engineSettings.

How to customise your booking engine

Configure the design

  1. Go to Booking engineSettingsDesign.

  2. Choose your layout:

    • Ultimate Plan – select Full-Screen layout for an immersive, page-wide booking experience, or Side panel layout for a compact panel that slides in from the side and keeps the main site visible.

    • Sales Pro Plan – the Full-Screen layout is fixed.

  3. Activate the Custom cover image toggle and upload your background image to match your branding.

  4. If you're on Sales Pro, toggle Show Header to display or hide the header. When enabled, it shows your website link and basic property details — adding a layer of trust and consistency for your guests.

💡 Tip: Use images and colours consistent with your website. Recommended image size is 1350x270px.

Set up the options

  1. Open the Options tab.

  2. Write a Custom message for no availability. Guests see this message when no rooms are available, with any alternatives you suggest.

  3. Set your customisation preferences:

    • Guest full address – request the full address (including city and postcode) or just the guest's country.

    • People selector – define how many adults and children appear in the dropdown.

    • Link room to cottage – if you offer both rooms and cottages, link them to manage availability across both spaces.

  4. Set your booking limits:

    • Set a time cut-off – for example, disable new bookings after 12:00 the day before arrival.

    • Define advance booking limits – choose how many days in advance a guest can book.

    • Custom message – write a note explaining why the dates are unavailable.

Important rules

📌 Note: Your booking limits and design settings only apply to your Amenitiz booking engine. They will not affect your availability on OTAs like Booking.com or Airbnb — remember to update those listings separately.

FAQs

What's the difference between the Ultimate Plan and Sales Pro Plan design options?

Can Sales Pro users switch to the Side panel layout?

No. The Side panel layout is only available on the Ultimate Plan. On Sales Pro the layout is fixed to Full-Screen.
