Overview
Use the inventory grid to block check-ins (Close arrival) or check-outs (Close departure) on a specific date — useful for public holidays, staff days off, or when you can't process arrivals and departures on the same day. The setting lives inside each rate plan's restrictions, so it applies per rate plan and per room type.
Before you start
This only blocks new arrivals or departures on that date. Existing bookings aren't affected, and guests already mid-stay continue normally.
If your rate plan derives its restrictions from another rate plan, changing the inventory cell here also changes it on the linked plan. To change one plan without affecting the other, the rate plan must have independent restrictions — set this in Booking engine → Pricing.
For closing more than a couple of days, skip the day-by-day grid and use Bulk update instead — see how to use the Bulk Update tool.
Step 1 — Open the Inventory grid
In the sidebar, go to
Planning→Inventory.Pick the room type and rate plan you want to edit at the top of the page.
Step 2 — Expand Rate restrictions
In the grid, find the Rate restrictions row.
Click the arrow next to it to expand the section. You'll see additional rows including Close arrival and Close departure.
Step 3 — Toggle the day
Find the cell at the intersection of the date column and either Close arrival or Close departure.
Click the small arrow inside the cell to toggle it on or off. The cell changes colour to indicate the new state.
The change saves automatically — a green Saving successful confirmation appears.
FAQs
Will guests with an existing booking on that date be affected?
Will guests with an existing booking on that date be affected?
No. Closing arrival or departure only blocks new bookings from arriving or leaving on that date. Existing reservations stay confirmed.
I changed the restriction on one rate plan and another plan changed too — why?
I changed the restriction on one rate plan and another plan changed too — why?
The two plans share a restriction plan. When restrictions are linked, the change cascades. To break the link and make them independent, edit the rate plan in Booking engine → Pricing and assign it its own restriction plan.
How do I close arrivals or departures for a whole week or longer?
How do I close arrivals or departures for a whole week or longer?
Use Bulk update instead of the day-by-day grid — it lets you apply the same restriction over a date range up to two years out. See how to use the Bulk Update tool.
What's the difference between closing arrival and closing the rate plan?
What's the difference between closing arrival and closing the rate plan?
Close arrival/departure blocks new bookings starting or ending on that specific day — but mid-stays continue to span it. Closing the rate plan blocks the entire room from any new bookings, regardless of arrival or departure day.
Does this also stop OTAs (Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.) from accepting bookings on that day?
Does this also stop OTAs (Booking.com, Airbnb, etc.) from accepting bookings on that day?
Yes — the restriction is sent to your Channel Manager so connected OTAs respect the closure the next time they sync.
