1. What is Verifactu?
Verifactu is a Spanish legal requirement designed to prevent tax fraud by ensuring your billing records are digitally reported to the tax authorities (AEAT).
📌 Note
It does not apply to businesses located in Navarra or the Basque Country, as these regions have their own tax authorities.
It starts in 2026:
1 January 2026 – for Corporate Income Tax payers (typically companies)
1 July 2026 – for all other taxpayers (including most self-employed professionals)
How it works:
Real-time reporting – Each billing record must be sent automatically to the AEAT as it’s issued.
Certified systems only – Submissions must go through a recognised Verifactu-certified provider.
📌 Note
Verifactu is only mandatory if your business is based in Spain and you issue invoices locally. For invoice providers like Amenitiz, compliance is required from 29 July 2025—which means we’ll be ready before your obligations begin.
