How to stop unpaid-subscription reminders after paying by SEPA

SEPA direct debit can take up to 10 business days to clear, so automated unpaid-subscription reminders may keep arriving meanwhile. Your account stays active — switch to card to stop the emails.

You paid your Amenitiz subscription by SEPA direct debit but you're still receiving unpaid-subscription reminders. This is almost always normal: SEPA payments take several business days to clear, while the reminder emails are sent automatically based on the invoice status. Your account stays active during this time.

Why this happens

  • SEPA is slow by design. Direct debit and bank transfers take up to 10 business days to be fully processed. Card payments clear instantly; SEPA does not.

  • Reminders are automated. They are sent based on whether the invoice is marked paid in our system. Until the SEPA payment settles, the invoice still shows as unpaid — even if the funds have already left your bank account.

  • Processing time varies depending on the banks involved, the IBAN, and the country of the sender and recipient.

Is my account at risk?

No. As long as the SEPA payment is initiated and not disputed:

  • Your Amenitiz subscription remains active.

  • No features are suspended.

  • You can safely ignore the reminder emails while the payment processes.

Once the SEPA payment settles in our system, the invoice is automatically marked paid and the reminders stop.

How to stop the reminders for good

If you don't want to wait every month, switch your subscription payment method to a credit or debit card. Card payments are processed instantly, so the invoice is marked paid the same day and no reminders are triggered.

  1. Log into your Amenitiz account.

  2. Go to Settings → Billing information → Payment methods.

  3. Add a new credit or debit card.

  4. Set the new card as the default payment method for subscription renewals.

Important rules

  • SEPA = up to 10 business days. This is the standard timeline, not an Amenitiz delay.

  • Reminders track the invoice status, not the SEPA timeline. Until the funds settle in our system, the invoice stays "unpaid".

  • Your account is not at risk as long as the SEPA payment is not disputed or returned.

  • Cards stop the cycle. Card payments clear instantly and don't trigger reminders.

FAQs

The money has already left my bank account — why am I still getting reminders?

SEPA payments leave your bank quickly but take additional business days to settle on the recipient's side. Until our system receives the settlement, the invoice is still marked unpaid and reminders continue.

How long do I need to wait?

Up to 10 business days from the date the SEPA payment was initiated. Most clear faster, but bank and country differences can stretch it.

Will my account be suspended in the meantime?

No. Your subscription stays active as long as the SEPA payment is initiated and not disputed. The reminders are informational, not a suspension threat.

Can I just stop the reminder emails without switching payment method?

No — the reminders are tied to the invoice status, which is tied to your payment method. The only way to avoid them is to use a payment method that settles instantly (credit or debit card).

It's been more than 10 business days and the reminders are still coming. What now?

Check with your bank that the SEPA payment was actually executed and not returned. If the bank confirms the payment, contact Amenitiz support with the date and amount of the payment so we can investigate.
