How to deactivate or delete a rate plan

Deactivate a rate plan to stop selling it while keeping its settings, or remove it permanently. Covers your default rate, OTA-connected rates and rates other plans depend on.

Overview

You can take a rate plan out of use in two ways:

  • Deactivate it. Guests can no longer book it, and all its settings are kept so you can switch it back on later.

  • Remove it. The rate plan is deleted permanently and can't be restored.

Both are done from your list of rate plans in Booking engine → Pricing.

Before you start

  • Your default rate can't be deactivated or removed. It's called Standard rate unless you renamed it. It stays open so it can always be sold on your booking engine and connected channels.

  • A rate plan connected to an OTA can't be deactivated from the list. See "My rate plan is connected to an OTA. How do I stop selling it?" below.

  • A rate plan can't be removed while other rate plans take their prices or restrictions from it. Unlink them first, as described in "Unlink rate plans that depend on this one".

Deactivate or reactivate a rate plan

  1. Go to Booking engine → Pricing in the sidebar.

  2. Find the rate plan and click its switch in the Activate column. The rate plan closes on your booking engine and on your connected channels.

  3. To reactivate it, click the switch again. It reopens with the same prices, restrictions and conditions.

📌 Note

If the rate plan is connected to an OTA, the switch turns back on and a warning window opens instead.

Remove a rate plan

  1. Go to Booking engine → Pricing in the sidebar.

  2. Find the rate plan and click the ⋮ menu at the end of its row.

  3. Click Remove rate plan.

  4. Type the rate plan's name exactly as shown, including capital letters, then click Remove.

⚠️ Warning

Removing a rate plan is permanent and can't be undone. If you might sell it again, deactivate it instead.

Unlink rate plans that depend on this one

If other rate plans take their prices or restrictions from the one you want to remove, change each of them first:

  1. Go to Booking engine → Pricing and click the name of the rate plan that depends on it.

  2. Under Price settings, select the No option so the plan has its own prices.

  3. Under Link to a restriction plan, select No, I want this plan to have its own restriction plan.

  4. Click Save.

FAQs

Why is "Remove rate plan" greyed out?

Hover over it to see the reason. There are two possible reasons:

  • Other rate plans derive from it. Unlink them first, as described above.

  • It's sent to the channel manager. Contact [email protected] to stop sending it before you remove it.

My rate plan is connected to an OTA. How do I stop selling it?

When you try to switch it off, a warning window offers three options:

Will removing a rate plan cancel existing bookings?

No. Bookings already made with that rate plan are not cancelled.

Can I deactivate or remove my default rate?

No. Your default rate always stays open so it can be sold on your booking engine and connected channels. To stop selling it for certain dates, close those dates in Inventory.

What's the difference between deactivating a rate plan and closing dates?

Deactivating switches the whole rate plan off until you switch it back on. Closing dates only affects the period you choose, up to two years ahead, and the rate stays open outside that period. Deactivate when you no longer offer the rate. Close dates when you want to pause it for a while.

I deactivated a rate plan by mistake. Can I bring it back?

Yes. Go to Booking engine → Pricing and click its switch again. All its settings are kept.

Can I restore a rate plan I removed?

No. Removal is permanent. You'd need to create it again.
