How to edit dates of stay in a reservation

Move the arrival/departure dates of a reservation — the whole booking at once, or a single room within a multi-room booking. Past bookings are locked; ongoing ones only allow check-out shifts; Booking.com syncs back.

Overview

You can edit the arrival and departure dates of any reservation — whether it came from your Booking Engine, a manual entry, or an OTA. The whole booking can be moved at once, or you can shift a single room's dates while the rest of the booking stays put (useful for split bookings where rooms have different arrival/departure dates).

How the changes propagate depends on the booking source and its current status. The Before-you-start section below covers the cases worth knowing about up front.


Before you start

  • Past reservations are read-only — Amenitiz blocks any date change on bookings whose check-out date has already passed.

  • Ongoing reservations (check-in date reached or passed) can only have the check-out date moved — the check-in is frozen.

  • Split bookings (rooms with different arrival or departure dates): if you edit the whole reservation, all rooms get merged onto the same dates — that's how you convert a split booking back to a single-dates booking. A warning modal asks you to type CONFIRM to proceed. To change a single room's dates without merging, use the per-room option instead. See how to create a split booking for context.

  • OTA bookings: changes made on Booking.com sync back to Amenitiz automatically. Changes made on other OTA extranets won't sync — for those, the cleanest approach is for the guest to change the dates in their OTA account, which then flows through to Amenitiz.

  • Inactive rate plans: if the booking's rate plan has been deactivated or removed, editing is blocked. Reassign the reservation to an active rate plan first, or create a new reservation.


Change the dates for the whole reservation

  1. Go to Reservations in the sidebar.

  2. Click the booking and select See booking details.

  3. Click the three-dot menu () in the top-right corner of the booking summary, and select Update dates of stay.

  4. Pick the new arrival and/or departure dates. Amenitiz checks availability and prices for the new range and shows you the result.

  5. Click Confirm dates of stay. If the booking has rooms with mismatched dates, a warning modal asks you to type CONFIRM to proceed with merging.


Change the dates for a single room (split booking)

Use this flow when you only want to shift one room's dates — for example to extend one guest's stay on a multi-room booking, or to adjust one segment of an existing split booking without merging the dates.

  1. From the booking details, scroll to the rooms list.

  2. Click the three-dot menu () next to the specific room and select Edit room's dates.

  3. Pick the new arrival/departure for that room only. Amenitiz checks availability.

  4. Click Confirm dates of stay. Other rooms in the same booking aren't touched — the booking becomes (or remains) a split booking.


FAQs

The edit option is greyed out — why?

Most often it's one of: the booking is fully in the past (no changes allowed), the rate plan is inactive (reassign to an active one first), or you've reached the check-in date (you can still move the check-out, but not the check-in). The product surfaces the exact reason in the error message — check it for specifics.


I edited a Booking.com reservation in Amenitiz — will it sync back to Booking.com?

No — Amenitiz pushes availability/rates to Booking.com but doesn't push back date changes. For a clean reflection on both sides, ask the guest to make the change in their Booking.com account, which then syncs to Amenitiz.


Why does editing the whole booking merge the dates?

Each booking has a single arrival/departure pair at the booking level. When rooms have different dates (because they were edited individually earlier), editing the whole booking forces them back to a common arrival/departure. If you don't want that, edit each room individually instead.


Will the price update automatically when I change the dates?

Yes. Any modification of the dates of stay causes the booking's price to recalculate based on the rate plan, the new nights, and any pricing rules. The new total is shown in the availability check before you confirm.


What happens to charges and payments already on the booking?

Existing charges and payments stay on the booking. Only the booking's room charges (per-night line items) recalculate based on the new dates. Extras and city tax are not automatically adjusted — review them after the date change if needed.
