How to create a split booking

Create a single booking where rooms have different arrival or departure dates — useful when a guest moves between rooms mid-stay or a group's rooms don't all start the same day.

Overview

A split booking is a single reservation that covers more than one room with different arrival or departure dates. Use it when a guest moves between rooms during their stay (for example, nights 1–2 in Room A and nights 3–5 in Room B), or when a group's rooms don't all start on the same day.

This article shows how to create a split booking from your admin and how it appears on your calendar.

Before you start

  • Split bookings are rolling out to accounts in phases. If you don't see an Add a room with different dates button after picking your first room, your account is still on the classic flow — follow How to manually add a reservation instead.

  • Split bookings are created manually from the admin only. Reservations imported from OTAs (Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia…) keep their single-segment structure — the OTA holds the source of truth.

  • Arrival dates in the past are not accepted, even for the first segment of the stay.

  • Each room in a split booking can have its own dates, occupancy, price and extras — set them when you add the room.

Step-by-step instructions

Open the manual booking flow

  • From the top bar of your admin, click + Add reservation.

  • In the first section, click Create booking.

Alternative — start from the calendar

  • Go to PlanningCalendar.

  • Click the slot for the check-in day and room you want. The new-booking sidebar opens with the arrival date and room pre-selected.

  • From here, keep adding rooms for the same dates or click Add a room with different dates to start a new segment — same flexibility as the top-bar entry point.

Add the first room(s)

  • Set the arrival and departure dates for the first part of the stay.

  • From the available rooms list, click the + next to each room you want for those dates. Every room you add appears under Selected rooms with its own dates, guests, nights and price.

  • You can add several rooms with the same dates — keep adding rooms here before starting a new date segment.

Add a room with different dates

  • Click Add a room with different dates.

  • Set the new arrival and departure dates for this segment. Use Change dates if you need to adjust them before adding a room.

  • Click the + next to each room you want for the new dates. The rooms join Selected rooms alongside the earlier segment, each with its own dates.

  • Repeat as many times as the stay needs — there's no hard limit on the number of date segments.

Remove a room from the booking

  • In Selected rooms, click Remove × on the card of the room you no longer want. The room is dropped and the total recalculates.

Finish the booking

  • Add the guest's information — either select an existing client file or create a new one.

  • Secure the booking with a valid payment method (enter the guest's card or bank details manually, or send a secure link by email for them to enter their own details).

  • Review the summary and click Save the booking. The new booking shows on your calendar with one bar per room on its dates.

💡 Tip

Want to create a manual reservation without charging the guest upfront? Set the first charge to 0€ in AmenitizPay — the payment method gets validated and your terms accepted, but no money is taken.

Add more rooms after the booking is saved

  • Open the booking and click Add accommodation.

  • By default, the new room covers the whole stay — from the earliest arrival to the furthest departure across all segments.

  • To put the new room on different dates, click the three-dot menu on its card and adjust its arrival and departure.

How a split booking shows up on your calendar

Each room of a split booking appears as its own bar on its specific dates, with a small 1/2 → 2/2 label indicating the segment order — so the same booking is recognisable across multiple rooms and date ranges. For more on calendar layout, see How to check the information displayed on your calendar.

FAQs

I don't see the "Add a room with different dates" button — what should I do?

Split bookings are being released to accounts in phases. If your account is still on the classic flow, the button doesn't appear yet — create a regular manual booking via How to manually add a reservation. Contact Amenitiz support if you want to know your account's status.

How does a split booking show up on the calendar?

Each room appears as its own bar on its dates. A small 1/2 → 2/2 label on each bar indicates the segment order, so the same booking stays recognisable across multiple rooms and date ranges.

Can I create a split booking from an OTA reservation?

No. OTAs (Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia…) hold the source of truth for their bookings, so split bookings can only be created manually from your Amenitiz admin. An OTA booking keeps its original single-segment structure.

Can I add several rooms with the same dates inside a split booking?

Yes. Keep clicking the + next to rooms on the available list before clicking Add a room with different dates — every room you add stays on the dates set at the top until you start a new segment.

What's the difference between a split booking and "Add accommodation"?

Add accommodation adds a room to an existing booking and keeps the same arrival and departure dates as that booking — see How to add an accommodation to a reservation. A split booking, on the other hand, is created from scratch and lets each room have its own dates.
